Simple Burger King French Toast Sticks Recipe
DaRecipe – Simple Burger King French Toast Sticks Recipe – Have you ever had the French Toast Sticks from Burger King? I looooooved them when I was a wee child. We were always pretty busy when I was a kid, my dad worked really long hours, and we had a lot of fast food breakfasts. My dad was always into eating right and staying active, but didn’t know exactly what that meant until more recently. He eats better now, and is more active than most people I know. I digress though, back to childhood, there were many a morning I chowed down on some French toast sticks, dipping them into the little container of maple syrup they came with.

- 1/2 loaf Brioche bread (Any sweeter bread will do!)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 5 tablespoons salted butter, divided into tablespoon segments
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon sugar
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
- Maple syrup, for dipping
- Chocolate syrup, for dipping
- Beat eggs in medium mixing bowl. Add milk and vanilla, and stir until combined.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon sugar. Place a nonstick skillet on the stovetop over medium heat.
- Slice individual slices of Brioche bread into thirds, with each slice yielding three sticks.
- Melt one tablespoon square of butter in your preheated skillet. You’ll cook 18 sticks in five batches, using one tablespoon of butter for each batch. We don’t want to crowd the sticks to ensure every edge is adequately caramelized.
- Take one stick of butter and coat well in the egg mixture. Move to the sugar bowl, and coat well, ensuring the sugar granules stick to the stick (get it?).
- Place three coated sticks into the skillet at a time and cook for about 2 minutes on each side, or 4 minutes total. On our stovetop, 4 minutes was the perfect time, though your own stove may differ so watch closely for that beautiful golden brown color.
- Dust with powdered sugar. Serve with maple syrup on the side or if you’re feeling decadent (you earned it!), serve with chocolate syrup. A fresh fruit salad never hurts, either.
While we love brown sugar for this recipe for the rich caramelized flavor it packs, white sugar works just as well.
Additionally, you can use any kind of sweeter bread you like. Mix it up and grab a loaf of cinnamon raisin from your local bakery for a real treat.
